1. Connect the gateway to the internet

To transfer content to the E-Paper door sign, the Bluetooth gateway must be connected to the internet. There are two options:

a) LAN cable (recommended)

• Connect the gateway directly to your router or network socket with a network cable.

• The device connects to the internet automatically.

b) Wi-Fi (if no LAN is available)

• Connect a mouse to the gateway.

• Connect a monitor via HDMI to see the menu.

• Select Wi-Fi in the menu, choose your network and enter the password.

• Confirm the connection and check that internet access works.

The gateway then opens the start page https://doorzign.zeitwart.de/welcome automatically, which confirms that the Qbic display has been registered on the server. As soon as the gateway is assigned to your account, it switches to its personal login address by itself – the start page checks with the server every 30 seconds.

If the start page does not appear, enter it as the start URL as described in Doorzign displays are not updating.

2. Activate the gateway for your account

Usually there is nothing to do: the gateway is activated automatically when you set your password via the link in the activation email (see New to Doorzign?).

If not, you have two options:

• Home page: after logging in, the home page lists your gateway under the gateways that were found. Click the button to activate the licence.

• Manually: in the menu, open Displays → DoorZign licenses. In the manual gateway registration area, enter the gateway’s LAN MAC address and click import.

In both cases a dialog then confirms that the gateway has been activated. If no displays show up, it reminds you to connect the USB Bluetooth antenna, insert the batteries into the E-Paper displays and place them near the gateway. Close it with OK.

The manual registration is also how you add another gateway to your account.

3. Activate the E-Paper displays

1. Make sure the USB Bluetooth antenna is properly connected to the gateway.

2. Insert the batteries into the E-Paper displays and place them near the gateway.

3. Open the home page or Displays → DoorZign licenses. DoorZign ready: lists all E-Paper displays found by the gateway.

4. Click the activate licence button for each E-Paper display. A message confirms the activation.

Activated devices are then listed under DoorZign active:. It can take up to one minute until an E-Paper display is found; the page refreshes automatically every 15 seconds. The home page keeps showing waiting E-Paper displays until all of them are activated.

As soon as at least one E-Paper display is active, a button on the home page takes you to configuring the E-Paper displays. See Doorzign configuration for the next steps.
